Our Approach
A prospective client asked recently, “What does a writing and editing service actually do?” Allow us a moment to immerse you in our process.

We begin through your email inquiry—then, some conversation. We want to know more about how this project originated and your own thoughts about it. You may be asked some questions like, What do you like about this project? What is its goal for its intended audience? What are some issues that you can’t shake?
Then we address expectations. What does a successful project look like to you? How much support, or how little support do you need? What completion date do you have in mind?
We next build a custom proposal with a plan, deadlines, and costs for you to consider.

Our Plan
When you accept it, we go to work for YOU. We use industry-standard reviewing tools, revising within the text and in side-bar comments. Depending on your project, the process could look something like this:

-
Proposal
-
Project planning with check-in dates to keep you informed as to progress
-
Writing and graphic development
-
Academic style and institutional alignment for citations and formatting
-
Line-by-line edits for clarity, professional tone, and grammatical correctness
-
Final document formatting and re-check

Regardless of your project, we keep certain things in mind when we edit your work:
-
You remain the content expert. We want your expertise to be conveyed to your reader.
-
After you have become wearied with the writing, we begin with fresh eyes. But you stay in control of your project. If you don't like a suggestion, you don't have to take it.
-
At the same time, we want your completed project to be according to the norms of your practice. For example, if you want to reach a general audience, and you are using industry-standard acronyms, we will suggest ways to explain the concepts to reach a wider readership.
Editing is a partnership that works best by being communicative, raising questions, and reaching solutions together.

We look forward to creating something together that will propel your work further and help you to reach the next step in your career—whether it is publication, promotion, or highlighting your work in serving your community.
