Our Beginnings
A note from Lisa
The Writing Well emerged from a dream of serving more people with their writing needs. But the business itself, well, just happened.
I never thought that I could start a business. And truthfully, by myself I never could have. My graduate work is in teaching English, not business. But former work colleagues began asking me to help with their longer writing projects, and then they started to refer other clients. They freely offered me feedback that I trusted and immediately utilized for better client solutions.
My first projects included editing professional papers and dissertations and starting a learning management system. In a few short months, I was working 40+ hours a week on writing and editing projects. My writing services had become a business.
I resigned from my academic role and began directing The Writing Well* full-time in 2022. Since starting with academic and ministry clients, “The Well” has expanded its services to serve healthcare administrators, lawyers, business owners, and others. Its brand has been built on a “yes, we can do that” mantra. Working to discover solutions to clients’ questions, I wanted to always be able to tell them, yes, the Well can do that for you. If I don’t know how, I’ll find out.
Welcome to The Writing Well as its next client. Trust the Well to find the writing solutions and support for reaching your next goal.

For your next writing project,
Lisa.
*When clients ask about The Writing Well name, I ask them if they have read Jesus's conversation with a woman at a well (found in the Gospel of John, chapter 4, in the Bible). The conversation changes the woman's life, and my life was changed through coming to know Jesus as well. Let me know if you'd like to have a conversation about it and how Jesus became the Giver of all that truly satisfies. The Writing Well name symbolizes life-changing communication and faith integration in scholarship. But it also gives itself to playful puns and cool graphics, just for fun.
